General Skilled Migration (GSM) Program with Eway Consulting

The General Skilled Migration (GSM) program offers several visa options for skilled workers looking to live and work in Australia. Below are the three key visa subclasses under the GSM program.

Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189)

The Skilled Independent visa is a permanent visa for applicants whose nominated occupation is listed on the Medium and Long Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL). This visa does not require sponsorship or nomination by an Australian state or territory. Invitation rounds for this visa are typically held every six months.

Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190)

The Skilled Nominated visa is a permanent visa for applicants whose occupation is on the Short Term Skilled Occupations List (STSOL). To be eligible, you must be nominated by an Australian state or territory government. Successful applicants receive an additional 5 points for this nomination, increasing their chances of receiving an invitation to apply.

Skilled Regional Work Visa (Subclass 491/191)

The Skilled Regional Work visa (Subclass 491) is a provisional visa that requires nomination by a state or territory government or sponsorship by an eligible relative. Applicants must reside in a designated regional area of Australia, which excludes Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. This visa provides an additional 15 points for the nomination or sponsorship, and after 3 years of living and working in a regional area, you may be eligible to apply for permanent residency through the Skilled Regional visa (Subclass 191).
